We are blessed

I lie awake, thinking of the devastation in Haiti:

I think:
We are blessed to live here, not there
I feel guilty.

I set a thermostat at a comfortable temperature.
I can run hot and/or cold (potable) water.
I open the fridge and its full.
I flick a switch and get light, music, TV, the Internet.
We drive, in a comfortable car, to a grocery store.
The aisles are filled with produce from around the globe.

I step out on the balcony.
Do I see devastation? No, I see this:

I go online and donate $100 to the Canadian Red Cross.
The Canadian Red Cross has received $10.9M so far.
The Canadian Government will match it.

Do I feel less guilty.
No ... not really ...

We are damn lucky !

Do we realize it?
No ... not really ...
