Recently, since there seemed to be little on TV to watch, Heidi & I turned to Hell's Kitchen, the 2nd highest-rated competitive reality show in the U.S. We'd never watched it before. The entire 8th season was broadcast, one-show-after-another. It was ridiculous ... but entertaining. Patrons at a Hell's Kitchen restaurant were served (or not!) by the culinary contestants. It was hard to believe that these "guests" would put up with contestant disasters. Then I discover that the "restaurant" is really a TV studio, that patrons are hand-picked, paid and told that it's possible that they'd get nothing to eat. They must NOT leave their seats (even to visit the washroom) and are told they will hear offensive language (most from Gardon Ramsay, Britain's most celebrated big-cheese-chef). So is there really a Hell's Kitchen restaurant? Apparently! Did I mention that it was quite entertaining? |
