My old / decrepit PC was sick, so I bought me a new (i.e. refurbished) IBM intellistation. I then had to transfer a jillion bytes of data & software before the market opened this morning. ** Alas, there seemed to be no button to turn the ^#$%@! PC on. After googling (on another laptop connected to the Net) I discover that there's a wee hole into which you stick a pencil. So I made up a magic "toothpick" device: Now I think I may sell 'em on eBay ... for all owners of IBM Click! ---------------------------------------------- ** In case y'all thnk I'm making a bundle, I should point out that my inestimable expertise managed to decrease my portfolio by 80% in 2008 ... so I'm finally back to where I was. |

I'm curious what the Intellistation has that a Dual or Quad processor PC doesn't?
ReplyDeleteTwo years ago I bought a new name brand Dual 2Ghz AMD processor desktop on sale locally for $300 and removed everything but the case, motherboard, CD/DVD and Hard Drives. I then added $200 more consisting of twice the memory and faster Ram (2GB of PC2-6400), a Dual 3Ghz processor, larger 500W power supply, and dual slot graphics accelerator.
The cheapest new comparable desktop was $800 then.
I bought this Intellistation 6225 for 249 $CAD

P.S.
ReplyDeleteIBM don't make intelli-stuff no more.
Well, i'll be durn! You certainly got a great buy at that price and without all the fuss & muss I went through with my desktop!
ReplyDeleteThe thought of buying a Workstation never occurred to my aged brain. I thought one of those would have been to many dinars, lol.
Thanks for the tip!
Did you notice that I'm selling my power-on stick?
